I have taken the burndown definition from the demo reports and made minor changes to suite my needs. All looks good, except the fact that it shows values on future dates as well. Can you please advise what could be wrong?

The burndown, by default, is built to show the days in the sprint - to also show the guideline in the future.
Still, you can add additional filter by clicking on any of the days and filtering the time to be <= today
