When having lots of source applications it is quite hard to see what the purpose of each source is. It would be awesome if there was a free-text field available where I can describe this purpose and is also shown in the lists of sources

You can write a comment before the select query:
/* Import something */
select ...
or
-- Import something
select ...
and then you will see this comment also in the list view.
