Issue Hierarchy Project -> Milestone -> Task -> Sub-task

I have the following hierarchy in Jira ;

  • Project Issue Type.
  • Milestone Issue Type.
  • Task Issue Type.
  • Sub-task issue Type.

Milestone Issue Type “is parent of” Project Issue Type, and each Milestone can contain Task and Sub-task underneath.
Any help is much appreciated!

If you are using Plans hierarchy, you can follow this link to learn how to enable/setup the hierarchy - Plans custom fields

If this is a custom/additional hiearchy, I suggest reading this blog post How to create an additional issue hierarchy and you can also check out a video from eazyBI Community Days where hierarchy set up is also explained (starting from minute 16:30) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwGHU44T8Nw
Here you can read about the additional issue hierarchies in the documentation page - Additional Issue hierarchies

Note! The issue hierachies will only work when for issues with single parents. If there are two parents for an issue, the hierarchy won’t work.
