Hi,
I was under the impression that the pre-defined Open Issues measure was historical. meaning that the amount of open issues calculated on previous day would remain the same on a timelne, but that’s not what I’m seeing.
On Jan 23rd 2026, I verified my weekly Open issue report and had 10193 Open issues for week03 (jan 12)
On jan 26th 2026, I check again and I see 10430 Open issues.
If Open issue is an historical measure as i thought, then does it mean someone id changing creation dates and/or removing resolutions from issues?
Thanks!
Marilou
Never mind me, I found the problem.
When an issue is returned to be fixed again, the resolution is removed and it goes back to unresolved.
I will change my Open issues to Issue history, unresolved and make sure our next project has a better workflow!
thanks!
Hi @Marilou,
Thanks for posting your question, and well done for figuring it out yourself!
Indeed, if issues are reopened (resolution date removed), they get recounted as open in all past periods. In this case, the Issues history measure with the Transition Status dimension will show you static results based on the statuses you consider unresolved.
This solution may be similar as in our demo account sample report - Unresolved issues by statuses over time - Issues - Jira Demo - eazyBI
([Measures].[Issues history],
[Resolution].[(unresolved)])
or you can specify your open statuses along with Issues History measure
Aggregate(
{[Transition Status].[To Do],
[Transition Status].[In Progress]},
[Measures].[Issues history]
)
Best wishes,
