You are right, this is a highly upvoted feature request here in the community forum. It is high in our list for upcoming work because of the number of votes.
Currently there are no workarounds for precise control over the column width. In some cases, the āVertical headersā option can help.

Please add my vote to this item as well. Our end users would greatly appreciate it we could control the column width in reports. It would be ideal for columns to not auto-expand (in terms of width) when the number of characters is high in the values. The ability to apply a wrap-text functionality would be helpful.
